HORWICH mayor David Grant visited the North West Air Ambulance base to see at first hand some of the work it carries out.
The visit to its Barton base was part of Air Ambulance Week celebrations. The day included meeting the team and learning about the pre-hospital care the charity provides.
The mayor also got the chance to see the helicopters used in life-saving missions across the region. Since its launch in 1999 the charity has been called to more than 24,500 missions.
Each year it must raise more than £12million to remain operational. Councillor Grant, pictured here with one of the helicopters, said: “I was able to thank the charity for the vital role it plays every day.”
