MP calls on students to have
a say in the General Election
BOLTON West MP Julie Hilling has called
on students and young people across
Bolton to make sure they register to vote
and have their say in the General Election
on a visit to Bolton Sixth Form College.
Over 120 students attended the event with the
town’s three MP’s, Julie Hilling, David Crausby
and Yasmin Qureshi. Ms. Hilling spoke about the
importance in young people making their voices
heard.
The question and answer session with the MPs
focused on the need for young people to be engaged
in the political process. Students quizzed the MPs
on issues from jobs and public spending all the
way to their views on the Royal Family and how
Parliament works.
Ms. Hilling said: “It was really exciting to see so
many young people come along to hear the impor-
tance of the political process and put questions
to me and my colleagues on issues close to their
hearts.
“This is an extremely important election for
everyone in Bolton West but in particular young
people – it’s their futures that hang in the bal-
ance when decent jobs, apprenticeships, the NHS
and public services are under threat from David
Cameron and George Osborne.
“We need to use every opportunity when talking
to young people about politics to encourage them to
be part of this massive decision. Bolton West could
make the difference in whether we get a Prime
Minister who wants to destroy our public services
or whether we get Ed Miliband who will give our
next generation the opportunities they deserve.”

Office and Bolton Council on Tel:01204 331248
